Expedited Skilled Worker Visa Processing in Germany
Employers can initiate an expedited skilled worker procedure with the competent immigration authority in Germany using the qualified worker's power of attorney, significantly shortening the administrative process until a visa is issued. The following information and steps are important:
1. An agreement must be reached between the company and the immigration authority, outlining the powers and obligations of the employer, the qualified worker, and the relevant authorities (immigration authority, Federal Employment Agency, recognition bodies, foreign missions), as well as a description of the procedures, including the participants and deadlines.
2. The immigration authority advises the employer, supports the employer in completing the procedure for recognizing the qualified worker's foreign qualifications, obtains approval from the Federal Employment Agency, and verifies visa requirements under immigration law. The recognition bodies and the Federal Employment Agency must make a decision within specific timeframes.
3. If all requirements are met, the immigration authority issues a document called a preliminary approval, which it sends to the employer for transmission to the qualified worker. The diplomatic mission will schedule an appointment with the foreign embassy for the visa application, which will take place within three weeks. At this appointment, the original pre-approval letter must be submitted along with other required documents.
4. After the skilled worker visa application is fully submitted, a decision is usually made within three weeks.
5. If the application is submitted simultaneously, the expedited skilled worker procedure also covers the skilled worker's spouse and unmarried minor children, provided they meet the legal requirements for family reunification.
6. The fee for the expedited skilled worker procedure at the immigration office is €411. In addition, there is a €75 visa fee and fees for qualification recognition.
